URBAN VOICES!
A Message from the Director and Chair
Welcome to the first edition of Urban Voices/L’écho de la ville.
The poetry and illustrations in this book represent the work
of students in the Toronto District School Board from
Kindergarten to OAC. This work reflects the skills,
knowledge, and appreciation for poetry and art that our
young people have learned in their classrooms.
The poet William Wordsworth said, “Poetry is the breath and
finer spirit of all knowledge.” Our young people in the Toronto
District School Board have infused breath and spirit into
their work and brought their knowledge to life. We are
confident that you will be touched by the powerful images
that the students present in these poems.
*proof that in recent years it has become statistically harder to be a kid.
